Summary: The Market Development Manager (MDM) is responsible to provide incremental support and strategic coverage of all accounts and salespeople in assigned territory with a core emphasis in the On-Premise Channel. Primary responsibility includes increasing sales revenue, case volume and profit growth on a monthly, annual, customer and brand basis. Responsibilities include developing a broader range of accounts sold and increasing product distribution.
Develop strong working relationships with existing key customers and new accounts in assigned territory. Work in conjunction with the Field Sales Manager to develop capabilities of the sales team (selling skills, brand knowledge, etc.).
Collaborate and work in tandem with the warehouse and fleet team to improve delivery logistics and resolve problems within territory.

1. Sales Support o The MDM is to provide support and guidance to assigned team to help attain achievement of financial, volume and executional objectives of the organization. The MDM will accomplish this by: o Strong emphasis on developing business in the On-Premise channel, especially in restaurants. o Developing business via new accounts sold, new distribution and development of existing accounts. o Having a bias for execution & achievement with a sense of urgency. o Develop customer focused solutions that maximize opportunities for consumer sales. o Personally engage in relationship building activities with buyers of all key accounts. o Promote a positive business culture that energizes, excites, and motivates the team. o Act as first line of defense in providing solutions for superior customer service. o Work with your team to ensure success of local, regional, and national chain programs. o Work with the FSM and GM to track goals by person and review by account, details that include such measurements as case sales, dollar volume, distribution, shelf, display, ads, pricing, cold box, back bar, drink menus, drink features, brand visibility and general execution/activation. o Monitor investment of resources and adopt actions to achieve the greatest return on investment. o Provide the GM and Chain Managers with input to aid the planning process & store level execution. o Effective use of documentation during work-withs to improve performance of team.

2. Personnel/Team Development o The MDM will assume guidance of a team of Sales Representatives and a territory of existing accounts. The
MDM will spend most of the time in the field developing new business and working with Sales Representatives to continually develop their ability to: o Grow sales revenue and volume of all products. o Strong focus against restaurants, country clubs, and hotels/resorts. o Secure new accounts, new product placements/expanded distribution. o Build outstanding relationships with accounts by providing superior customer service. o Execute national and local marketing programs. o Deliver effective, persuasive sales presentations/superior selling skills. o Execute and drive brand activation. o Effectively manage account inventories to avoid out of stock occurrences. o Consistently follow the 10 steps to a sales call.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of successful team management and sales experience.
  • Experience in dealing with On & Off-Premise Customers/Route Sales.
  • Strong knowledge of the On-Premise trade including Restaurants, Hotels, Fine Dining, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of wines and spirits/alcohol industry.

Specific Knowledge, skills, licenses, certifications, etc:

  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, vehicle insurance and reliable transportation is required
  • Great leadership capabilities with strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong judgment and decision making.
  • Accountability and execution bias.
  • Solid organizational and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Must always exhibit professionalism with customers to include proper dress attire representing the company.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
